We care about your personal data, so we have prepared this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, protect, use and share it. We treat your data confidentially and in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations and this Privacy Policy.

Data Collection and Use

Our iOS app does not collect any personal data. We only store information about the food items themselves, including the quantities stored, expiration dates, barcodes, product categories, and storage locations. This data is stored locally on your device and can be backed up to your iCloud if desired. In addition, usage data is collected as explained under “Usage Analysis.”

Use of OpenFoodFacts.org

When scanning items or entering barcodes, the app uses the open database OpenFoodFacts.org to retrieve product and nutritional information, as well as product photos and other product-related data. In doing so, the IP address of your device is transmitted to OpenFoodFacts.org. If the user of the app modifies, adjusts, or enters product data and/or product photos, they may be sent back to OpenFoodFacts.org. This process is anonymous. When using OpenFoodFacts, the IP address of your device is transmitted to the servers of OpenFoodFacts.org in France. By activating the OpenFoodFacts feature in the app settings, you agree to this transmission. If you do not enable this feature, no communication with OpenFoodFacts will take place, but you will need to enter the product details yourself. You can change this setting at any time.

Usage Analysis

When you use our app, the behavior of the app and errors within it can be statistically and anonymously evaluated using certain analysis procedures to improve the app. Apple App Analytics is used for this purpose. The operator of this analytics tool is, in addition to the “Responsible Entity,” Apple Inc.

You can disable App Analytics for your device in the privacy settings (Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Share Analytics).

Data Security

We take the protection of your data very seriously and take all reasonable steps to protect it. The data you entered is stored locally on your device or in iCloud, and it is protected by device- and system-specific security mechanisms.

Data Disclosure

We do not disclose data to third parties unless required by law or necessary to fulfill our obligations to you.
